the misadventures of soopy-kun

soopy-kun says, that sale was alright. soopy-kun is exhausted... almost 40 hours since wednesday. also, it's a good thing weather boy *finally* started working on his website. black on brown doesn't make you want to read text....

as for reading.... i would be doing a lot more but i left the book i was working on during exams in my dorm room... yipee. there was a manga event at the library yesterday and my sister saw it going on, but of course, my sister avoided it like the plague. she also didn't check out another copy of my book, howl's moving castle. i need telekenetic powers. i probably spelled telekenetic wrong and if i did, now you have sometime to tell your friends.

weather boy, dialup is no excuse, i post every so often. now that 75 mhz computer you have... now that's an acceptable excuse :-P

also, WHY THE HECK DIDN'T WEATHER BOY SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE POSSIBLE LIGHT SNOW LATER TODAY. NOT A TEAM PLAYER!!! :-P stupid work... it's going to make me miss the "oooo... look" snow.

Invierno Break, Part 1

So I've been neglecting this for how many days...the joys of being on dialup.

*My grades have now all come out. They actually didn't come down as badly as I thought they would, with physics bottoming out at a C (I was shocked by this one since I didn't think it was possible), and my meteorology lecture garnered an A+. Everything else went somewhere in between, so I'll let you guys guess what that means.

*Unfortunately for my roommate, he is not going to be coming back next semester. His grades apparently didn't pan out too well. I won't mention any more because I don't know who reads this, and even though his name isn't mentioned, I want to be safe not sorry (Bean's secrecy in Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon have gotten to me I guess).

*Shadow of the Hegemon is an excellent book, and while I still like Ender's Shadow better, it still has a lot of emotions in it. Now I can't wait for the next one by Card to come out in that sequence!

*I guess I get to spend some time making my website more accessible over break. Black text on a heavy brown background was probably asking for trouble, and it sort of irritates me that the original designer chose that color. If there's one thing we learn in web design, it's that you never use a dark color background on a page that can be printed. The RGB value for that background is A46667, or for the hexadecimally less inclined--164 red, 102 green, 103 blue. It turns out to be quite dark, and on monitors lacking in millions of colors (the common RGB system is 24 bit color which is not universally supported) it seems to be darker.

I hear that there's a sale at the place that Soopy-kun works tomorrow. I bet he's going to be happy (see his blog to see what I mean).

Well time for me to continue to be sick.

Ender's Shadow

All I can say is...wow... It's as powerful if not more so than Ender's Game ever was.

End of Exams, Day 1

I have somehow made it through the first day of my exams. The good news, that means that I only have one more day, and two more exams. The bad news--I only have one more day to prep for the physics exam.

Book lists for next semester are coming out; hopefully I have enough cash on hand to buy them earlier (and cheaper) in case I need them as a tax writeoff or something like that. It won't be enough of course, but it should help...a little. I didn't have much in the way of fall book purchases, so that won't be much of a writeoff at all. Hopefully, next year I won't have this problem as the summer loans will cause the tuition/fees/book writeoffs to be moved elsewhere.

Tomorrow--8am CSC 216, 1pm PY 208.

Good news:

  • I got the A+ in CSC 253 I had already calculated

Bad news:
  • Thursday 8am: MEA 311 exam
  • Thursday 1pm: MEA 313 exam
  • Friday 8am: CSC 216 exam

End of semester nonsense

New End of semester nonsense--

*Unless there's a mad curve, I get a U in bowling. By the grading scale, it is mathematically impossible to pass with less than a 90 average for a male. I had an 86.

*CSC 253 is an A+, since I got all 5 points on the EC program (a makefile).

*I'm exempt from the 226 exam by 0.0042541%! Score!

*And naturally, the 216 TA's botched the HW 5 grades. There's at least 10 points that I should have that were clearly by specs--I'll be having words with Miller on Monday.

Exams:
Thursday--MEA 311, 8am; MEA 313, 1pm
Friday--CSC 216, 8am; PY 208, 1pm
